Eric Ammann
Principal, Sr. Practice Leader / FSA, EA, MAAA

Eric Ammann is a Principal and Senior Practice Leader of Retirement Horizons. He joined the firm in April 2001 to establish the Dallas office and to further develop the actuarial practice. He has over 30 years of pension actuarial consulting experience with expertise in the following areas:


  • Retirement plan design, implementation, maintenance and administration of both qualified and non-qualified retirement programs.
  • Extensive experience in plan valuation, non-discrimination and coverage analysis under IRC 401(a)(4) and 410(b), governmental reporting and experience analysis.
  • Assisting employers with complying with the financial reporting and disclosure requirements of Statements of Financial Accounting Standards Nos. 87, 88 and 132 for both corporate and tax-exempt organizations.
  • Consulting with employers concerning issues related to their retiree medical programs, including plan design, funding alternatives and compliance with SFAS 106/132 accounting requirements.


Prior to joining Retirement Horizons, Eric served as the senior pension actuary in the Dallas office of Milliman & Robertson, Inc. He was a principal of Milliman & Robertson, Inc. and served as a consulting actuary with them for over 15 years.

Eric is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an enrolled actuary. He is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Actuarial Science in May of 1979.
